Peter Field

Owner and Founder,  Where it all began 

Peter Field started Milne Safety (named after his wife Jan’s maiden name) way back in 1978, Peter started within the business with a focus on his knowledge of chemicals (Pig farming and veterinary pharmaceuticals) It became apparent with the implementation of the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974, that Health and Safety would soon become a large part of what Milne has now become. Peter very soon became a font of knowledge within the Health and Safety fraternity, a member of Faculty of Risk Management, with a diploma in Environmental Management, a member of the Institute of Occupational Health and Safety, I could go on, in fact Peter probably has more letters appertaining to Health and Safety after his name than are currently in the Alphabet. Irrespective of the qualifications, Peter insisted that the main core to the business was, and still remains today, our client base and how Milne has a practical and dare I say it “Common sense” approach to Health and Safety. 

Peter, has now taken a back seat to ensure the business grows with new, fresh ideas but will always remain a valued member of the team, (the Guv’nor) and the person whom has created the values of who and what we are today.

David Field, CMIOSH, MIIRSM, RSP
Health & Safety Consultant and Instructor

David has been a full-time member of the Milne Safety team since 1987 With over 25 years of experience in Health and Safety Consultancy and Health & Safety training. Originally a qualified chef, David turned his attention to working with his Father Peter within the family business in the late 80s. David specialises in COSHH, but his breadth of knowledge and qualifications on all matters Health and Safety can read like a dictionary.

Alec Rodwell, CMIOSH, MIIRSM, Dip RSA
Health & Safety Consultant and Instructor

Alec joined Milne Safety in 1996 as a New Business Manager, within a short time Alec became a Director.

As one of the company’s senior Consultants qualified to CMIOSH status, Alec has a knowledge of health and safety that rivals all.

As an Instructor, Alec focuses on First Aid, Manual Handling and Asbestos Awareness training to name but a few. On top of this he is our respiratory expert who is responsible for conducting Lung Function testing.

Andy Pointer, TECHIOSH
Health & Safety Consultant and Instructor

Andy joined Milne Safety in 2012 and specialises in safety with a smile. He’s qualified to instruct many of the Health & Safety courses that Milne Safety offers.
With a wealth of experience in the instruction of practical courses, Andy is probably the most entertaining Health and Safety professional you are likely to meet but has the necessary skills to match the personality, ensuring that you gain the accreditations you need to do your job safely.

John Bowles, Instructor

John Bowles has been with Milne Safety for over 20 years and brings a wealth of experience in Health & Safety training. His prime function is that of a Forklift Instructor but he is also able to train on Gantry Cranes, Abrasive Wheels and Working at Height, which includes Mobile Elevating Work Platforms to name a few.
John is a friendly character (many call him a legend) who takes the time to get to know his students in order to provide an atmosphere more conducive to friendly and fun learning.

Jeni Wright, Business Development Manager  

 Jeni joined Milne Safety in 2014, her relaxed and friendly personality, allows clients to feel at ease when discussing Health and Safety matters. Jeni’s all-round knowledge of Health and Safety and training guarantees that if you are looking for a full health and safety support or just a simple training course, Jeni will be able to help and will always offer service with a smile.

Graham West, Business Account Manager 

Graham is the Business Account Manager for our Chemical and Health and Safety Procurement Division. We provide a vast range of products to a wide range of customers which include engineering/manufacturing, building trades, motor trades and garages, farming, councils, schools and hotels. Our products vary from janitorial to specialist Health and Safety.  We also have a large number of clients in the food industry and with our food hygiene expert, we offer all our food grade clients a free site visit. This could involve compilation of cleaning procedures as well as advice for your staff on using the products correctly, efficiently and more importantly, safely. Our Health and Safety division can also help compile COSHH Assessments. All quotations are free of charge with no obligation to purchase.
