Who is this course suitable for?

This course is for those who need to drive and operate forklift trucks. This is an ITSSAR approved forklift truck course conducted by qualified Instructors with over 40 years of combined knowledge and experience.

If you have never received a nationally accredited certificate to drive forklift trucks you will need to undertake this particular forklift training course. A maximum of 3 students can be trained at the same time. One student takes 3 days, two students take 4 days and three students takes 5 days. The course can be carried out at your site or we can also offer this course at Milne Safety on a Counter balance Category B1 (up to and including 5 tonnes) only.

Important information

Although not required by law, it is strongly recommended by governing Health and Safety bodies that a refresher test is taken every 3-5 years for operators currently holding a nationally recognised certificate. This not only covers yourself as an employer but helps to keep safety at the forefront of your employees’ thoughts.

Course Objectives

To understand forklift truck safety and to be able to use a forklift truck both safely and efficiently

During the course, the following elements will be covered.

Operators responsibilities under current regulations
Forklift stability
Weight assessment
Pre-operational checks including battery charging procedure (dependent on type of truck)
Handling a variety of loads
Legal obligations
Practical training and practical test
Multiple choice theory test paper

Forklift training can be carried out at a client's site or at Milne Safety.The duration of the course is as follows

1 x delegate = 3 days

2 x delegates = 4 days

3 x delegates = 5 days
